Help...I need a new last name...

Dear Runners,

I've got a big problem here.

Nobody can find me on the Internet.

In fact I just did a search for "Gary Smith" and came up with 5,070,000 results.

So I need to come up with a new last name. Like a stage name.

Something that sounds cool and athletic and is unique. Like if you searched on the internet for it "Gary _____" you would get like less than 10 results.

Hopefully I would like something that sounds English. And Chang is definately out of the question based on the numbers.… Continue

The Goals in our Souls...

Catalina Race Report Part 2

What does it take to train for the Catalina Marathon?

That's the question that I have been trying to figure out now for three years.

And I think that I have found some answers.

Our first test was the Buffalo Run.

How did the Beach Runners do?

Pretty d… Continue

LSD Saturday 7-21-07

Took it easy this Saturday.

Trained hard last week so legs were a little fatigued.

And I ran hard the Saturday before.

I'll be writing about this to the group but....

YOU GOTTA TAKE IT EASY AS THE RUNS GET LONGER

So thats what I did.

Really focused on my form especially some secret new
techniques I've been trying.

No idea how far or what pace I ran...who cares?

But I did touch the Queen.

On the way back we saw a… Continue

Thursday Night Tempo Run 7-19-07

You know why I never use garmins?

Because they suck!

My old garmin 201 could not pick up the satelite signal despite
a clear sky.

Never mind. Tried doing a tempo run anyway.

Tried going race pace. Though it worked out to more of a 10k/13M pace
than marathon pace. I reckon it was about 7:30 for 5 miles.

But lots of good things. Got my hips moving well. Legs very relaxed.
And best of all, floppy feet. Also kept knees down.

It took a… Continue

Tuesday Night Trail Running and Yoga 7/18/07

Just had another awesome workout last night.

We ran to the top of Palos Verdes from Trump Golf Course.

I ran it in 48 minutes from gate to bench and back on the fireroad.

My core training is really paying off right now, as I can keep my core
really solid on the uphills so that I can relax my arms and legs.

I was flying on the downhills.

It was so cool to see seven beach runners coming up the hill as
I was running down, including 4 women!!! I'm… Continue
