About Me:
I love kickboxing, boxing, yoga, running, hiking, eating & just being outdoors. You'll never catch me on a treadmill, makes me feel like a hamster ;) Was with BR's in 2005, messed up my knee being crazy in kickboxing & had to have knee surgery (With the team about every other season since then).

Here's to 2009 being my year to really get my fitness back on track. I'm already going to physical therapy to work on both of my knees. And will start doing Nia (combination of yoga, martial arts & dance) this month to change things up.
Favorite Races:
San Francisco Nike Marathon
Favorite Place to Train:
LocaIly I like running the trails around Trump Golf Course...The trails of Griffith Park and there are some in the Hollywood Hills & the valley that I love.

Any place scenic works for me.
Completed Races:
AFC Half Marathon San Diego
San Francisco Nike Marathon
Pacific Shoreline Half Marathon
Seal Beach 5K
Danskin Sprint Triathlon
Long Beach Int'l City Bank Half Marathon

Running Goals:
Take my strength & efficiency up several notches - since I tore both menisci in my knees my fitness has really taken a nose-dive and I'm fed up! Time to kick butt!!

I do acupuncture ongoing preventatively and I really believe it's made a huge difference. I have the most amazing Acupuncturist. She's very thorough and explains everything. Very down to earth & personable. She does needles, ear beads, moxa, salves, herbs. Recommends reading and actually studied with Dr. Maoshing Ni.

Post run indulgance:
A great meal (sushi, crepes, meditteranean, persian, cuban, thai, indian, vegan or...!) a hot bath, a pedicure, lunch in a park/by the ocean, or just relaxing & sharing a tuna salad w. my little love Cassius Clay (my Snowshoe Siamese)!

L.A. Marathon

Running L.A.?? Why not run for a cause?

I don't have to tell you that with the current economic environment pets are being dumped or given up in record amounts. Fundraising amounts are suggested only - You are not tied into anything but they do need all the help they can get at this point.

Sign on to fundraise what you can for them and you will get discounted race registration and a Rover Rescue Tshirt!

Gotta run...

Local Vegan Restaurants?

HEY ~ Does anyone have a favorite vegan restaurant locally?? Call me crazy but I found this place in Hollywood on Sunset awhile back called California Vegan that I just love! You would not believe how good the chicken tofu is. I actually tend to crave this place post-run on Saturdays...but it's kinda crazy to always drive down there every Saturday so if you have anything more local DO tell!

Best,
Betty

Good Morning Betty,
I just got back from the NIKE Women's Marathon (did the 1/2). You were right, it was wonderful!!!
I had a blast.
It was a challenge.
Mile 11 was crazy...oh, a mile long hill...whew, kickmy butt.
So worth it!
I was shooting for a 14min/mile...surprised myself with 11:49.
So happy with it.
Am considering doing it again next year...maybe the full..who knows, that would require training and I'm not willing to give up kayak-time for running.
Hope you're doing well.
What runs do you have planned next?

Hi Betty,
Yep, parking can be a bit of a problem so finding it where you can near your friend's at 3rd and Golden makes good sense.

We do yoga in the church library and that would be about center of the building if your on Pacific facing the entire structure. There's a fenced in courtyard, and the door to the library is on the outside of that courtyard to your left; I try to leave the door propped open for a bit after we start in the event someone arrives late.

If you go for a run first, it's best if you head back from Ocean & Redondo by 6:20, or the option would be to park near the church upon arrival in Long Beach and then just run from there down Pacific toward the bike path, but it's obviously more congested running on the sidewalk and such as opposed to the bike path.

Here's my cell if you need last minute assistance next Tuesday.
562-481-2995.
Larry
