What's better than running? Standing around and cheering on a Beach Runner while supported by another BR! This at the Catalina Marathon 2008.
“Eeesh, I’m beat - and only after 5 miles!” John right after crossing finish line at the Long Beach Watermelon Run in June 2007.
“Oooof, I’m tired. Thanks for holding me up.” John thanks his Sweepea Laura after the June 2007 Chicago Run for the Zoo.
More people are required to assist me after a marathon. From left to right: Mina, Doug, Lani, me, and Kristin, at the October 2006 Long Beach Marathon.
I’m running with Kristin (right) and Lani (distant left) at the Catalina 10K in March 2007. This is photographic proof that 2 of 3 of us didn’t get seasick on the shuttle boat on the way to the run.
Running marathons - at least on flat ground - is easy. Power yoga is hard! It makes people so delirious, we all end up smiling when we’re done.

Some of the route would be familiar to last years' Beach Runners. Other parts of the route I (as the self-designated "cruise director") made up as we went along. We ended up getting over

You might have heard that many runners (including me) love to drink Ultima as the electrolyte of choice. It's also hard to find; I've heard from someone recently that you cannot buy this at Runners High anymore. (I haven't verified that.)
But you can buy this drink online. Go to http://www.ultimareplenisher.com/ and if you order more than $30, the shipping is free.

So Saturday Coach Gary's trying to motivate us with a seemingly insane message: “the sun is your friend.” Wow! 3 hours later, red-faced and pooped, the sun definitely did not seem to be my friend.
But sometimes I let myself think that I might be able to learn something from our coaches. They do seem to be faster and better than most of us.
I was running along the LB bike path from work to home today. The end of the route

Good luck in Catalina! And who knows... I might be there too to cheer you on? Surprise, surprise?
