Next week is the Marathon. I'm going to do the half; my goal is to run and walk in less than 3 hours, which will be PR. I'm currently thinking that I'm going to walk to the 11 mile marker, then the route turns off the beach path and up Ocean.

Finished Week Two of the Whole Body Cleanse. Learned many things - not the least of which is that orange juice/lemon juice/apple juice, garlic, ginger, cayanne, salt, and 2 tablespoons of oil is not all that bad as a breakfast drink. Second - or really part of the first - is that the oil in the drink is enormously satisfying - not in a taste way, but in a hunger quenching way. I drank the drink at 6:30 AM and didn't even think about the next thing to eat until 11 AM -- nearly 6 hours later. It's a lesson that when we strip ALL the fat out of the diet, you cannot make up for the satisfaction quotent with volume or anything else. So the lesson here is that a little fat is good in the AM.

Monday, 28 September 2009 - Totally dark and cooling off in the AM. Wore shorts but long sleeve shirt. Walked in AM with weights. Went to Ales in PM. Soaked feet afterwards.

Tuesday, 29 September 2009 - Walked with weights in AM. Yoga in PM.

Wednesday, 30 September 2009 - Walked with weights in AM. UCI and foot massage in PM.

Thursday, 1 October 2009 - Did not go to work today. Got up at 5:30 to drive to ONTARIO for a development seminar hosted by the University of Redlands. Rushed back for a call at 1:30. Rushed off to have my bi-annual (every two years) tooth implant check-up. Also did not go to yoga. Stayed home to watch the Office -- the wedding episode is next week.

Juice fast all day.

Lack of activity indicates...that I am NOT meeting my original 2009 resolution to exercise every day. I amended that goal to "follow the training schedule" in August. And I'm not actually doing that. But I'm knuckling down starting right after the Long Beach Half.

Friday, 2 October 2009 - did not go to work today, and did not get up early. Saw Ales in AM. Went to Lunch at Oxy with Tom Tomlinson. Juice fast all day. Went to bed hungry.

Saturday, 3 October 2009 - Ran 70 minutes today. No foot pain. Did not run continuously. Had to stop for the bathroom twice. And had to walk at least three times on the way back. I was really tired. And, oddly, my shoulders were so tight on the run back to the park that I thought I would scream. I don't know what that was about.

I think that is, in part because I had NO calories in me. And because I continue to run farther at a faster foot-fall than I'm used to.

Part of the run was easy-easy. But probably the last half was hard. When I walked I didn't power walk, I loped along getting my breath. I probably went 7 miles today.

I drove up and got acupuncture. I'm crazy about Dr. Li.

Then home and to Holly's 40th b-day party.

Then to yoga in an attempt to stretch out all the kinks - mostly my shoulders. It was hard, but not, I think, brutal. I couldn't do all of it. After running on Saturdays I'm not "all there" for long (2 hours +) yoga. I think I fell asleep at the end. Usually the yogi says "wiggle your fingers and toes" and I missed that cue. I "came to" as people wree standing up.

Next week, Sole Runners are going to have a place to meet before hand and to gather afterwards together. OK. It's true I don't want to run with a group (whatever that means, LeAnn), but I do like being part of the group. Confusing.

Sunday, October 4. Slept in. Ran errands. Went to Gem Faire. Did shopping for third week of cleanse.
