Week One
So I conclude this week feeling not all that positive about training...I'm doing a zillion things positive, and yet I don't feel all that positive.
Monday, 2 November 2009
Walked 2 blocks in AM (changing from time to distance, because I have no idea how long it really takes). No weights; right shoulder continues to be a problem.
No other activity; ran errands after work.
Tuesday, 3 November 2009
Walked 2 blocks in AM. In the dark I might add -- BIG moon still out.
I "packed" to run with Steve at 6 PM tonight, but for reasons I don't remember, I'm scheduled to run with Steve at 3 PM today. (Lucky for ME he sent at e-mail confirming time.) I had to sneek out of work early (I left at 2 PM). Luckily my boss was out of town.
Met Steve, talked about posture (and swimming, oddly enough) for a long while. At 3:30 (1/2 way through the hour) we took off running around the Rose Bowl. Because I packed for a later time, I was wearing long tights; hot in 80 degree weather.
I was pathetic. On the one hand, I'm trying to do something new and so one has to concentrate on that. On the other hand, I may have allowed myself to "rest" too much. Anyway, we didn't run all the way around. We walked (OK, I walked and he walked with me). And, then on the turn for the parking lot, I said we'll walk now because of my hamstring.
I had a good time with him, but I would like to have been better. Interesting, he was interseted in my goals for running with him AND my list of 6 worst food habits with Barbara. (And after the run, when repeating my goals, he had me re-order them, which is fine.) At one point he said soemthing to me and I replied more sharply than I had intended...and I had to apologize...and he was nice about it.
Anyway, because we ran so early, I was able to make it home and then go to yoga with Allen -- which felt totally custom for me. And -- Allen is SO bad at this -- the 7:15-8:30 class lasted from 7:15 to 9:30. But, it was the stretch that I needed. (Allen recommended accup and deep muscle massage for my hamstring.)
Wednesday, 4 November 2009
Walked 2 block in AM.
Turned on computer to see what time my flight was tomorrow morning -- and it's TONIGHT!
I called UCI and cancelled. I hand to go home from work and pack. I napped at home and then took the red-eye to Florida.
The ONLY two people on the plane awake (and talking in full voice) were the two guys sitting behind me. I really didn't sleep on the way out at all.
Thursday, 5 November 2009.
Walked through "downtown" Key West for an hour.
"Danced" at a 2-hour concert at the hotel.
Friday, 6 November 2009.
On my feet 11 AM until 7 PM at Street Faire near Margaritaville in "downtown" Key West. Eight hours -- six hours walking around, 2 hours moving to concern music.
Saturday, 7 November 2009.
Did not sleep at all last night, I don't know why.
Would like to write that I ran a 5K, but that would be a lie. I ran some of a 5K and walked some. (I had to initially stop running due to poop, but after that I stopped running on the way back in, too.) It was warm (80) and humid and windy.
Went downtown and walked around -- including the Little White House. Probably a 2-hour walk.
Sunday, 8 November 2009.
Ran 5K route today. I ran about 1.5 miles and rested. I picked out a spot some distance in the future and agrees that if I ran all that way without stopping, I'd allow myself to walk back. I did make it out to the point I had picked out, running with TINY baby-steps into a pretty strong headwind. Then I walked mostly back in. Probably 4 miles total.
I end the week feeling mostly not successful. I think my personal commitment is to call lisa fillis and start seeing her re weight management for the rest of the year.
